What is the role of an Intern Naturalist?

Interns are expected to actively participate alongside our naturalists in the development, planning, and teaching of programs. Intern Naturalists will also be expected to lead or assist with interpretive hikes along our trails, greet visitors and answer questions, help care for our resident critters, keep nature center organized and various other duties throughout their time with us!

What does it take to be an Intern Naturalist?

Greeting park and nature center visitors and leading or assisting with programs requires good communication skills and a desire to work with the public.  Good physical condition is needed as the outdoors is the classroom!  The intern naturalist should also be self-motivated and demonstrate maturity.   Undergraduate student with core curriculum in science related studies or education required.

How do I benefit from being an Intern Naturalist?

Eden Mill Nature Center will provide assistance and training in development of programs, natural history, and teaching applications. As an intern, experience is gained while working alongside our naturalists to accomplish duties.

Are other internship opportunities available at Eden Mill if I don't necessarily want to assist with programs?

Yes!  We have had interns who developed and created short informative videos about Eden Mill or worked on research in the park.  We are more than happy to discuss any requirements or thoughts you have for your internship!
