All purchases are final. Refunds are issued if we cancel the program. If you decide you can no longer attend a program, a refund will only be issued if we can fill your spot. A $25 administrative fee will apply for summer camp refunds. We cannot offer credits or move your registration to another program.

Sunrise/Sunset Canoe Trips
Join us for a guided hike, but on the water in a canoe! This canoe trip is designed to acquaint participants with the natural surroundings of Deer Creek. Exploration of the environment is enhanced by the use of canoes to travel along the creek. The emphasis, during these relaxed excursions, is on environmental education and interpretation, provided by the naturalist who accompanies the group. Bring your family, group, or a friend and enjoy the wildness of Deer Creek.

Homeschool Environmental Study Series
Learn from the past and look to the future! Participants will increase environmental literacy studying a different environmentalist each month. We will explore the issues they were passionate about through literature, journaling, activities and hikes. We will reflect on the impact they made and ways to continue their efforts.

Bluebird Box Build
Build a Bluebird Box to take home with you. Learn all about attracting bluebirds to your own backyard! You will also learn how to monitor your bluebird box, and what to expect when they choose your box to nest in.

Bird Banding

Bird banding is the process of attaching a small metal or plastic band or tag around a bird’s leg in order to identify individual birds from the band’s unique number
Join Mark Johnson banding birds. Banding will take place at the Joe Vangrin Memorial Pavilion, located near the trail head, with intermittent walks to check the nets. Select dates in the spring and fall. Free. No pre-registration needed. All ages.
If you have found or harvested a banded bird, please report it at www.reportband.gov. You’ll need the band number, or numbers, if the bird has more than one band.

Fly Tying
Learn the art of tying flies. Basic techniques used to tie nymphs, streamers, wet, and dry flies will be shown. Participants will be tying flies for their own use. Each night will cover two patterns. Each class will focus on different patterns and no two classes will be alike. Attend one or as many classes as you like.

JUNE 24-28: Everyone is Someone’s Lunch
We will become nature sleuths to track animals along the trails of Eden Mill and explore who eats who and why. Learn about predator and prey relationships through games and role-play. Enjoy stories, crafts and many other exciting activities. We will enjoy a canoe paddle on Deer Creek too!
July 22-26: Voyage to the Wild
Get ready to step into the world of the wild as we discover the life of those who call Eden Mill home. We’ll hike, play games, and do arts and crafts as we experience nature hands-on. We will enjoy a canoe paddle on Deep Creek too!
August 12-16: Beyond My Backyard
We will scout the Piedmont beyond our backyard by learning techniques of primitive cultures that lived here before us; explore the trails to discover and observe the wonders around us; and become a part of the life of a miller from long ago. We will enjoy a canoe paddle on Deer Creek too!

Hunting the Haunted
Join Adam Elliott, a professional storyteller, licensed educator, historical researcher, and paranormal investigator, for an evening of TRUE ghost stories and a guided ghost hunt featuring cutting-edge tech equipment. Enjoy some chilling local ghost stories, hear and see paranormal evidence collected at past investigations, and participate in guided ghost hunts of the mill and cemetery (weather permitting).
